The Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chair Ken Martin named Roger Lau as the group’s new executive director Monday.
Lau previously managed Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-Mass.) 2020 presidential campaign.
“When we’re in the opposition party, the work of the DNC is more important than ever,” Lau said in a statement. “This team will leverage the vast infrastructure that we’ve built within the DNC and our state parties while meeting this moment by deepening our partnerships, strengthening grassroots organizing, and turbocharging messaging to win elections.”
Additionally, the committee named former DNC chief of staff Libby Schneider as deputy executive director, while Jessica Wright will serve as chief of staff to the chair and deputy executive director. The committee also named Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio) Shasti Conrad, and Stuart Appelbaum as associate chairs.
“At such a critical moment, we are excited to have experienced, aggressive operatives who are ready to roll up their sleeves and defend Democratic values up and down the ballot,” Martin said in a statement.
The hires come as the party looks to rebuild following President Trump and Republicans’ widespread wins in November. Martin was elected DNC chair last month.
