Amash starts hashtag: ‘Trumpstablishment’

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Saturday argued that President Trump’s agenda had merged with the Washington establishment, floating his own Trump-themed hashtag: “Trumpstablishment.”

“Trump admin & Establishment have merged into #Trumpstablishment. Same old agenda: Attack conservatives, libertarians & independent thinkers,” Amash tweeted.

{mosads}His tweet came shortly after a top Trump aide called for a primary challenge against Amash, a frequent Trump critic and member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus.

Trump’s director of social media, Dan Scavino, tweeted that Trump is “bringing auto plants & jobs back to Michigan” while calling Amash “a big liability.”

“#TrumpTrain, defeat him in primary,” Scavino tweeted to the president’s supporters.

Trump has escalated his attacks on members of the conservative House group after they opposed GOP leaders’ legislation last month to replace ObamaCare.

Freedom Caucus members argued that the legislation didn’t go far enough to repeal the Affordable Care Act, while moderate Republicans also opposed the GOP legislation before it was pulled before a vote.

“The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!” Trump tweeted Thursday.

He also singled out several other Freedom Caucus members on Twitter — Reps. Mark Meadows (N.C.), Jim Jordan (Ohio) and Raúl Labrador (Idaho).

“If @RepMarkMeadows, @Jim_Jordan and @Raul_Labrador would get on board we would have both great healthcare and massive tax cuts & reform,” he tweeted.
