Warrantless wiretapping reform legislation circulates on Capitol Hill

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday is circulating a hotly-anticipated proposal to reform the National Security Agency’s controversial warrantless wiretapping program.

The draft legislation, obtained by The Hill, contains a handful of modest fixes to the authority, known as Section 702.

The White House is pushing for a clean and permanent reauthorization of the law — something chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) says does not have the votes to pass in the House.
