Schiff wishes he had known sources of funding behind dossier sooner

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) in a Sunday interview admitted that he would have liked to have known sooner who funded the research that lead to a controversial dossier containing unverified allegations about President Trump.

“I can’t answer that,” Schiff told ABC’s “This Week” when asked if the sources of the funding behind the research should have been revealed sooner.

{mosads}But the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee explained that, while he would have liked to have known sooner who funded the research, the important question is how much of its contents are true.

“I certainly would have liked to know who paid for it earlier, but nonetheless, that’s just one factor to be considered. It doesn’t answer the ultimate question, which is how much of the work is accurate? How much of it is true? And my colleagues don’t seem particularly interested in that question, but that is really the most important question for the American people.”

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Hillary Clinton’s campaign reportedly assisted in funding research for the dossier, which alleges connections between Trump and the Kremlin.

The conservative Washington Free Beacon on Friday confirmed that it first funded the research project that lead to the dossier, before the Clinton campaign and the DNC took it over.
