Pelosi, Lee invite Golden State Warriors to Capitol
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) on Tuesday announced they had invited the Golden State Warriors to the Capitol to celebrate the team’s NBA championship victory.
“In celebration of your victory, we would be delighted to welcome you publicly as a team or personally as families to the United States Capitol. Please consider this as a blanket invitation whenever your individual schedules allow,” the congresswomen said in a letter sent to the Warriors.
Pelosi and Lee both represent parts of the San Francisco Bay area where the Golden State Warriors are based.

The invitation came after President Trump said last week that he would not invite the Golden State Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers to visit the White House after the NBA Finals.
The Warriors’ Steph Curry and the Cavaliers’ LeBron James both said they were not interested in visiting the White House.
The Warriors beat the Cavaliers in a 4-0 final that earned them their third NBA title in four years.
“With your third title in the last four years, the Golden State Warriors have once again dazzled America with your outstanding performance on the court and inspired leadership off the court,” Lee and Pelosi said.
Earlier this month, Trump abruptly disinvited the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles from visiting the White House due to differences over national anthem protests and because they planned to take a smaller than expected delegation to the White House.
