Incoming Dem lawmaker fires back at Trump’s former economic adviser: ‘No Gary, YOU don’t know what’s coming’

Rep.-elect Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) on Thursday shot back at former Goldman Sachs CEO Gary Cohn for comments he made while addressing new members of Congress at Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics.

Cohn, who resigned as President Trump’s top economic adviser in March, was among several speakers during a bipartisan orientation program this week at Harvard.

Tlaib said on Twitter that Cohn told incoming lawmakers: “You guys are way over your head, you don’t know how the game is played.”

“No Gary, YOU don’t know what’s coming – a revolutionary Congress that puts people over profits,” Tlaib tweeted.

The orientation at Harvard has been dubbed by the university as an event where newly elected lawmakers can “learn practical skills of lawmaking just one month prior to taking the oath of office.”

In addition to Cohn, speakers included Mary Barra, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, and Arthur Brooks, president of the right-leaning American Enterprise Institute.

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) voiced criticism of the event on Thursday, saying their were several corporate CEOs but no labor leaders in attendance.

Right now Freshman members of Congress are at a “Bipartisan” orientation w/ briefings on issues.

Tlaib, a former Michigan state representative, defeated five other candidates in Michigan’s Democratic primary earlier this year and ran unopposed in November. She has championed policy efforts such as “Medicare for all” and a $15 minimum wage.
