Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) posted online that the pro-Israel sign outside of his office in the Capitol was vandalized.

“We’ve seen many examples of Hamas sympathizers ripping down posters of innocent hostages,” Walberg posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “Now, right here in the House office buildings, we see more cowardly acts of vandalism targeting those standing against terrorism.”

Walberg’s post included a photo of the vandalized sign. It reads, “I stand with Israel,” and was defaced with two red handprints.

“This only strengthens our resolve,” Walberg wrote. “I #StandWithIsrael.”

Walberg’s original post showcasing his sign suggested the world should unite by condemning the “terror and helping deter future attacks.”

“We must also condemn the anti-Semitism, threats, and lies that have erupted worldwide,” his post from Monday said.

Democratic Rep. Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey responded to the vandalism, calling it “unacceptable” and “another example of the blatant antisemitism running rampant across our nation.”

“Whether in the halls of Congress, on university campuses, or across our communities, we must all stand united against this hate,” Gottheimer’s post said.

Rep. Randy Weber (R-Texas) posted online that his “I stand with Israel” sign posted outside his office was torn when protestors entered the Cannon office building last week.

While a majority of members of Congress support the U.S. mission to aid Israel, several members have since called for President Biden to demand a cease-fire for the people of Gaza.

In a vote Wednesday, nine Democratic members of the House voted against a resolution backing Israel and condemning Hamas.
