Scalise marks two years since shooting: ‘I’m still here today getting to do the job I love’
Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) on Friday marked the two year anniversary of his being a victim in a mass shooting, celebrating his recovery from critical injuries.
“Two years ago, my colleagues and I were attacked while practicing for a charity baseball game, simply because we’re Republicans,” Scalise tweeted.
“Thanks to countless heroes, miracles, and prayers, I’m still here today getting to do the job I love in Congress—and play a little baseball.”{mosads}

Scalise was seriously wounded after 66-year-old James Hodgkinson opened fire at a group of Republican lawmakers who were practicing for a congressional baseball game on June 14, 2017, at a field in Alexandria, Va., ahead of a charity game.
Hodgkinson was killed in a shootout with police shortly after.
The Louisiana Republican was struck in the hip by a bullet and underwent nine different surgeries and months of physical therapy before making a recovery and returning to Congress.
