Ocasio-Cortez: Trump amplifying calls for civil war ‘pathetic’ and ‘reckless’
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Monday slammed President Trump for quoting a pastor who said on Fox News that impeachment could trigger a “Civil War like fracture” in the country.
“I truly can think of few things less patriotic, more cowardly, and plainly pathetic + reckless than amplifying calls for civil war within your own country,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted.

This President has never been interested in leading. He‘s interested in consolidating power with a cult of personality. https://t.co/3hw5tr76x6

Trump has received significant criticism, including from within his own party, for tweeting a quote from Pastor Robert Jeffress.
{mosads}”‘If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office (which they will never be), it will cause a Civil War like fracture in this Nation from which our Country will never heal,'” Trump quoted.
Jeffress has a history of offensive comments, including reportedly calling Islam “a religion that promotes pedophilia” and saying “you can’t be saved by being a Jew.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) formally launched a Trump impeachment inquiry last week after details emerged of a phone call where Trump pressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, a leading 2020 presidential candidate, and Biden’s son Hunter.
