Ocasio-Cortez says woman who suggested ‘eating babies’ was Trump supporter
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Friday that the woman at her town hall meeting the night before who called for “eating babies” in response to the climate crisis is actually a supporter of President Trump.
“I’m so happy that you are really supporting a Green New Deal, but it’s not enough,” the woman told Ocasio-Cortez at the town hall in Queens, according to C-SPAN video of the event. “Even if we were to bomb Russia, we still have too many people, too much pollution. So we have to get rid of the babies. That’s a big problem. Just stopping having babies is not enough. We need to eat the babies.”{mosads}
The woman’s comments were quickly mocked by President Trump and his supporters, with Donald Trump Jr. saying she seemed like a “normal AOC supporter” and the president calling Ocasio-Cortex a “Wack Job.”
But Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Friday that it “turns out the woman yelling was a Trump supporter” there to stage a stunt.
Turns out the woman yelling was a Trump supporter ♀️
Doesn’t rule out potential mental issue (Drs do that) but good to know they were not in crisis.
Earlier this year I was stalked & very nearly hurt by a disturbed person. I don’t take chances & immediately try to de-escalate. https://t.co/kgWFvigJhy

LaRouche PAC, a conservative group that backs trump, took credit for the woman’s actions on Twitter:
It was us. Malthusianism isn’t new, Jonathan Swift knew that. Sometimes, only satire works. https://t.co/vR8oXdx39i

Ocasio-Cortez also tweeted against comments mocking the woman, saying “this person may have been suffering from a mental condition and it’s not okay that the right-wing is mocking her and potentially make her condition or crisis worse.”
“Be a decent human being and knock it off,” she said.
The progressive firebrand also took to Twitter to respond to Trump’s insult:
Better than being a criminal who betrays our country. https://t.co/UnShA6gcQQ
