GOP pollster Luntz likens congressional lawmakers to ‘cast members on Bravo’ over House shouting match
GOP pollster Frank Luntz likened members of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee to “cast members on Bravo” Thursday.
“You know American leadership is in a crisis when you can’t tell the difference between congressional reps on C-SPAN and cast members on Bravo,” Luntz said in a post on the social platform X that featured footage from a fiery Thursday night Oversight Committee hearing.
The cable network is best known for programs like “The Real Housewives” franchise, “Vanderpump Rules,” “Top Chef” and more.
The chaos at Thursday night’s Oversight hearing, focused on holding Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt following after he declined to hand over the audio of President Biden’s interview with Special Counsel Robert Hur, began after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) commented on the appearance of fellow committee member Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas).
When Greene was questioning if Democrats on the panel employed the daughter of the judge overseeing former President Trump’s New York hush money case, Crockett chimed in, pushing back against the relevance of Greene’s inquiry.
“I don’t think you know what you’re here for,” Greene said to Crockett. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”
From there, chaos erupted as Democrats expressed their indignation with Greene’s behavior, and Greene continued to push back.
At one point, Crockett questioned if “someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blond bad built butch body” would break Congressional protocol. Her question seemed to be a swing at Greene.
Greene later said in a post on the social platform X that “some people are upset about the scene from Oversight Committee last night, well I’m upset and disgusted pretty much everyday at the Democrat controlled DOJ, federal government, and Congress in general.”
Crockett has said that Greene’s comments on her appearance show that she’s “absolutely” racist.
“She is racist. I mean, I don’t have any questions about that. Because, I mean, I don’t know that she’s ever attacked her own colleagues,” Crockett said.
