Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) was detained by police Friday during a protest at Detroit Metro Airport where she was demonstrating for higher pay for employees who worked for Delta airlines.

Tlaib was seen in pictures sitting on the road alongside several other people as dozens of other people picketed on the sidewalk.

“We won’t stop until we get #fairwages & #healthcare. These courageous people got arrested tonight at DTW b/c they believe workers deserve human dignity. Shame on you @Delta for leaving workers behind and letting them live in poverty,” Tlaib tweeted after her detention.

It appeared Tlaib was protesting with catering workers for Delta who were frustrated with the airline. Pictures of the protest were released by a member of the Unite Here group, a union that represents hotel, gaming, food service and airline industry employees from the U.S. and Canada.

Diana Hussein, the union member, said the employees were protesting “unaffordable health care and poverty wages.”

“These workers are suffering and living under unimaginable conditions all because Delta wants to make more profits on the backs of the poor. The airline catering workers are desperate for a better quality of life and put their bodies on the line in their fight against the exorbitant corporate greed by the airlines denying them of their right to a living wage and good healthcare,” Tlaib said in a statement to The Hill.
