Rep. Kim Schrier (D) on Tuesday was projected to defend her House seat representing Washington’s 8th Congressional District from Republican challenger Jesse Jensen.
The Associated Press called the race at 10:46 p.m. EDT.
Schrier, 52, was elected for her second term representing the district in western Washington after winning against Jensen, a former Army captain and a former Amazon manager.
In 2018, the former pediatrician flipped the traditionally Republican district to help the Democrats gain control of the House. She defeated former Republican state Sen. Dino Rossi, who ran to replace former Rep. Dave Reichert (R-Wash.), who retired.
The nonpartisan Cook Political Report categorized the race as “likely Democrat” before the election.
