Rep. Bass tweets photo of Trump in response to FBI call for information on rioters
Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) on Thursday tweeted a photo of President Trump in response to an FBI appeal for information on people who incited Wednesday’s riot at the Capitol.
“Found one,” Bass tweeted Thursday, in response to a tweet from the Bureau reading “The FBI is seeking to identify individuals instigating violence in Washington, D.C.” She included a picture of Trump addressing the crowd at the White House on Wednesday, a speech he ended by encouraging the crowd to proceed to the Capitol.

Appearing on CNN on Thursday, Bass, the former chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, noted the contrast between how Black Lives Matter protesters have been treated by police and how the mobs at the Capitol were handled.
“You can’t even come into the Capitol with a purse. How can you break into the capitol and walk around with flagpoles?” she said. “It is so demoralizing for people, in particular African Americans, people of color.”
In the same interview, Bass dismissed the prospect of removing Trump from office before Biden’s inauguration, either through another impeachment or the 25th Amendment.
“We know what would happen with impeachment. Do you expect the people voted against certifying the election yesterday in the senate to vote to impeach him today?” she said. “I don’t think that that would stand, would make any sense.”
As for the 25th Amendment, in which a president’s Cabinet removes him from office, she said, “I don’t believe that’s gonna happen at all.”
The rioters breached the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon, interrupting a joint session of Congress to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win. The breach led to a lockdown of the building before the Capitol was secured and the vote completed early Thursday morning.
