House Democrat touts resolution to expel Marjorie Taylor Greene from Congress

Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-Calif.) announced on Wednesday that he will be introducing a resolution to expel fellow Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from Congress.

“Her very presence in office represents a direct threat against the elected officials and staff who serve our government, and it is with their safety in mind, as well as the security of institutions and public servants across our country,” Gomez said in the announcement

Gomez pointed to several conspiracy theories and threats Greene has made in the past, the most recent discovery being Greene supporting posts on Facebook that called for violence against prominent Democratic leaders, as first reported by CNN’s KFile.

Greene has also expressed support for some conspiracy theories online, including QAnon. She supported former President Trump’s claims of election fraud.

A video surfaced Wednesday that shows Greene taunting David Hogg, a survivor of the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on Capitol Hill and calling him a “coward.”

“Such advocacy for extremism and sedition not only demands her immediate expulsion from Congress, but it also merits strong and clear condemnation from all of her Republican colleagues, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell,” Gomez said.

Greene already stirred trouble in the House when she refused to put on a mask. Whenever she complied, she wore a mask that said “censorship” on it. She also filed articles of impeachment against President Biden a day after his inauguration.

Many others have called for Greene to step down. Hillary Clinton said Greene should be “on a watch list,” not serving in Congress.

It is not clear when Gomez will introducing the resolution and how much support it will have among other House members.
