Minnesota Republican gets stuck upside down in the middle of virtual committee hearing

Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) got stuck upside down in the middle of a virtual House Financial Services meeting.

“I don’t know how to fix that,” Emmer responded when a colleague told him he was upside down on screen.

Emmer was in the middle of his comments when Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) interrupted him and asked him if he was okay.

Waters asked Emmer if he could figure out how to fix it while other colleagues made light-hearted jabs at Emmer, comparing him to the lawyer who went viral on Tuesday for his cat filter during a virtual court hearing.

“At least you’re not a cat,” one member called out. Another member said that Emmer could try “standing on your head.”

“I don’t know what happened, it just came on this way. I turned it off and back on and I’m still,” Emmer said before he was able to fix his screen so he was no longer upside down.

Technical issues have been prevalent, even among members of Congress, as many are conducting their work from home and over Zoom due to the coronavirus pandemic.
