The Metropolitan Police Department on Monday released a photo of the knife carried by the suspect in Friday’s car attack at the Capitol.

The suspect, 25-year-old Noah Green, crashed his car into a security barricade at a checkpoint along the fence lining Constitution Avenue and struck two Capitol Police officers.

Green then allegedly exited his vehicle with the large knife and lunged toward another Capitol Police officer stationed at the checkpoint. That officer then fatally shot Green.

One of the officers who Green struck with his vehicle, William Evans, died at a local hospital on Friday shortly after the attack. The other Capitol Police officer was also hospitalized for injuries, but was later released.

Friday’s attack is still under investigation by the Metropolitan Police, Capitol Police and the FBI’s Washington Field Office.

Green’s motives are not entirely clear. A U.S. official told the Associated Press over the weekend that Green had been suffering from delusions, paranoia and thoughts of suicide.

Evans is the second Capitol Police officer to die from an attack on the Capitol this year. Another officer, Brian Sicknick, died after engaging with a mob of former President Trump’s supporters who tried to stop Congress from certifying the presidential election results on Jan. 6.

A third Capitol Police officer, Howard Liebengood, also died of suicide shortly after Jan. 6. Dozens of other officers were also injured.
