Gosar’s sister labels lawmaker a ‘sociopath’ after Ocasio-Cortez, Biden tweet

Rep. Paul Gosar‘s (R-Ariz.) sister said Tuesday that other lawmakers do not hold her brother accountable after he tweeted a video earlier this week that depicted violence against Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and President Biden

“I have proximity to this sociopath who has been elected from a very gerrymandered district. There is no other way that someone like Paul wins. Without that he is incompetent. It is obvious,” Jennifer Gosar said Tuesday on CNN.

“No one holds him accountable,” she said, specifically naming Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Attorney General Merrick Garland.

Gosar’s controversial tweet featured an animated video showing a likeness of himself striking Ocasio-Cortez and running at Biden while armed with two swords.

The White House has condemned the video

“There is absolutely no place for any violence of any sort in this political system,” White House principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Tuesday.

Pelosi has also called for a series of investigations into the representative and urged House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to join Democrats in supporting the investigations.

Threats of violence against Members of Congress and the President of the United States must not be tolerated. @GOPLeader should join in condemning this horrific video and call on the Ethics Committee and law enforcement to investigate. https://t.co/qX8kMbiZ8n

In addition to the social media controversy, Gosar has garnered attention for his role in perpetuating the idea that the 2020 election was stolen. He is expected to be called to testify in the bipartisan investigation into the Capitol attack on Jan. 6.
