Roger Ailes was prepping Fox Business Network host Trish Regan as a possible replacement for Megyn Kelly, according to a Business Insider report.

Regan, 44, was “personally prepared” by Ailes to take over Kelly’s 9 p.m. time slot in the event it opened, the report said.

Ailes, the former Fox News chairman and CEO, left his post last summer after being accused of sexual harassment by Kelly and other women at Fox.

Citing “multiple sources,” Business Insider said Ailes began working with Regan as Kelly entered contract negotiations in early 2016.

{mosads}Kelly announced Tuesday that she would leave Fox to take a position at NBC News. Her last show will be on Friday. Her contract with the network expires over the summer.

Regan, a former MSNBC, CNBC and Bloomberg star who came to the Fox Business Network in 2015, is considered a possible successor to Kelly.

Others at Fox widely considered to be in contention for Kelly’s slot include Martha McCallum, Sandra Smith, Shannon Bream and Kimberly Guilfoyle.

Fox will likely rotate hosts for an indefinite period before a permanent host is made, two sources familiar with the situation tell The Hill.

The Hill has reached out to Fox News for comment.
