Trump on Colbert: ‘What he says is filthy’

Responding to jokes made about him on CBS’s “The Late Show,” President Trump recently slammed host Stephen Colbert as a “no-talent guy” who says “filthy” things.

“There’s nothing funny about what he says. And what he says is filthy,” Trump said in a Time magazine interview published Thursday.

Trump mentioned Colbert’s rant from earlier this month in which the comedian made a sexually explicit joke about Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin’s c–k holster,” Colbert said during a parody rant toward Trump in his show’s opening monologue. The Federal Communications Commission received enough complaints to investigate the incident.

Trump said Colbert’s show was failing until he started targeting the president.

“And it only builds up my base. It only helps me, people like him. The guy was dying. By the way they were going to take him off television, then he started attacking me and he started doing better,” Trump told the magazine.

Trump touted the show’s high ratings when he is a guest.

“I’ve done his show. … But when I did his show, which by the way was very highly rated. It was high highest rating. The highest rating he’s ever had,” he said.

In the interview, Trump said he is avoiding consuming negative press reports.

He also slammed certain CNN anchors, saying Chris Cuomo comes off like a “chained lunatic” on television and Don Lemon is “perhaps the dumbest person in broadcasting.”
