Seattle’s police department took a swipe at InfoWars’ Alex Jones on Friday after the conspiracy-slinging web series host had a thermos of hot coffee thrown on him during a confrontation on a city street.
Asked on Twitter about the incident, the Seattle Police Department replied from its official account.
“We haven’t received any official reports,” the department tweeted. “As far as we know that could be an actor playing Alex Jones.”
It’s not clear exactly what the police department was referring to, but the remark may have been a jab at Jones’ comments earlier this week about the white nationalist demonstrations in Charlottesville, Va.
“I mean, quite frankly, I’ve been to these events, a lot of the KKK guys with their hats off look like they’re from the cast of Seinfeld,” Jones said.
“Literally, they’re just Jewish actors,” he said. “Nothing against Jews in general, but they are leftists Jews that want to create this clash and they go dress up as Nazis.”
The police department may have also been referring to an argument made my Jones’ lawyer during the web host’s child custody hearing earlier this year. During that hearing, his attorney claimed that Jones was simply a “performance artist” and “playing a character.”
