“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski will move forward with a three-book deal with Hachette Book Group, after the publishing company shuttered its Weinstein Books imprint

“I spoke to the CEO, the very top guy at Hachette Book Group, Michael Pietsch, about the company’s policy and their new structure, how this is all going to work,” Brzezinski said Friday on MSNBC.

“We’re going to have an ongoing conversation about sexual harassment and wage equity, and I’m really looking forward to writing about all of it in the rerelease of ‘Knowing Your Value’ and the two other books that I will be doing with Hachette Book Group,” she said.

Brzezinski said last week that she would not move forward with the book deal unless Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein resigned from The Weinstein Company.

“I have a three-book deal with Weinstein Books, through Hachette,” she wrote on Twitter. “I can’t go forward with those books unless Harvey resigns.”

Weinstein was fired from the film studio this week amid mounting sexual harassment and assault allegations. But Brzezinski said the Hollywood executive’s termination “didn’t feel like enough” and that she wanted to get an assurance “that this behavior is completely intolerable” before she moved ahead with the book deal.

Hachette announced Thursday that it would close its Weinstein Books imprint, and that books under contract would instead be published under the group’s Hachette Books imprint.
