NBC adds NPR’s Deggans to media team

NPR TV critic Eric Deggans has been added to the growing NBC News and MSNBC media team as a contributor.
 
“Eric will report across NBC News and MSNBC platforms, including for the new media team led by former New York Post business reporter Claire Atkinson,” reads the MSNBC announcement.

Deggans, a Washington, D.C., native, will join a contributor roster than includes Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman, Buzzfeed’s Ben Smith, Recode’s Kara Swisher, author Steven Brill and Recode’s Peter Kafka.
 
Deggans is NPR’s first full-time TV critic. He also served as a TV and media critic for the Tampa Bay Times for almost 20 years.
 
The 52-year-old is also the author of  “Race-Baiter: How the Media Wields Dangerous Words to Divide a Nation, a look at how prejudice, racism and sexism fuels some elements of modern media.”
