MSNBC trolled President Trump’s claim that he is bringing back the “merry Christmas” tradition on Wednesday by airing an edited compilation of clips that show former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, wishing the country “Merry Christmas” while he was in office.

“As we approach the end of the year we got to thinking, ‘Did Donald Trump really bring Christmas Back to the White House?’” said host Chris Hayes, on MSNBC’s “All In with Chris Hayes,” before rolling the clip.

The video showed more than a dozen occasions of the Obamas publicly sharing such wishes, which came shortly after Trump pledged that the U.S. will celebrate Christmas by saying “‘merry Christmas’ again.”

{mosads}“You go to the department stores and you see ‘happy New Year,’ and you see red, and you see snow, and you see all these things. You don’t see ‘merry Christmas’ anymore,” Trump said during a speech in Missouri on Wednesday afternoon, in which he promoted the GOP’s tax-reform plan.

“With Trump as your president, we are going to be celebrating ‘merry Christmas’ again, and it’s going to be done with a big, beautiful tax cut,” he continued.

Trump has repeatedly taken shots at Obama for not saying “merry Christmas,” both before and after he took office.
