Former “CBS Evening News” anchor Dan Rather confirmed Sunday that he will be hosting a news program with the progressive online outlet The Young Turks Network (TYT).

Rather told CNN that, beginning Monday, he will be hosting “The News with Dan Rather,” a 30-minute program being sold as an “untraditional evening newscast” by the network.

The show will be available online weekly at 5:30 p.m., according to CNN.

The 86-year-old Rather told the cable news outlet he wasn’t particular familiar with TYT prior to meeting with the network’s founder, Cenk Uygur, but decided it was a good opportunity to contribute.

“I feel strongly that when you have a president who is continually, relentlessly damning the press, individuals by name, individual institutions and calling the press the enemy of the people — listen, this has to be resisted,” Rather told CNN.

Neither Rather nor Uygur provided firm details to CNN about the show’s structure or content, but Rather said the “format is designed to allow me to focus on substance” and described it as “raw.”

Rather has been a frequent and vocal critic of President Trump, at one point writing that “prayer will not be enough” for the United States under his administration.
