Ingraham: Trump got ‘snookered badly’ on budget deal

Fox News

Fox News host Laura Ingraham says President Trump “got snookered” on the $400 billion budget deal he signed on Friday, adding that the “swamp got re-filled last night.”

Ingraham has been a supporter of the president on many issues, but has also been critical on his willingness to discuss a path to citizenship for “Dreamers,” as well as not tackling spending that adds to the national debt.

The syndicated radio host was once considered to join the Trump administration as press secretary, with Ingraham saying in June of last year that she was considering leaving media to help advance the president’s agenda while “there’s so much at stake.”

{mosads}“I’ve always said that if it’s something that I think I could do well, and it would really advance the agenda of this administration at a time where I think there’s so much at stake for the country and for the future, you know, I would think about it,” Ingraham said at the time.

“If your country calls you, if God opens that door, you have to seriously consider it. If I can really help, it is hard to say no to that. If I think I can help, which I think I could,” she added.

Ingraham, a former MSNBC host, now hosts her own Fox News primetime program, which premiered in October.

Other fiscal conservatives have been critical of the budget deal, particularly members of the GOP House Freedom Caucus, citing its impact on the deficit.

“I’m not only a ‘no.’ I’m a ‘hell no,’ ” declared Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) earlier this week in voicing his opposition to the bill.

It’s a “Christmas tree on steroids,” said Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.).

“This spending proposal is disgusting and reckless — the biggest spending increase since 2009,” Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) tweeted Wednesday.
