Lawyer: Stormy Daniels won’t attend White House correspondents’ dinner

Stormy Daniels’s attorney said Monday that the adult-film star has not been invited to the annual White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner in Washington, D.C., next month, adding she wouldn’t attend even if invited.

Lawyer Michael Avenatti dismissed the black-tie gala as a “sideshow,” The Washington Examiner reported Monday.

{mosads}President Trump did not attend the event at the Washington Hilton last year, making him the first sitting president to miss it since Ronald Reagan was recovering from an assassination attempt in 1981.

The president did attend the annual Gridiron Dinner earlier this month, leading to speculation that he may decide to attend the WHCA dinner on April 28 as well. The White House hasn’t confirmed Trump’s status either way. 

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is locked in a legal battle with Trump over a $130,000 payment she received weeks before the 2016 election. The payment was part of a nondisclosure agreement, which Daniels says was regarding an affair she says she had with Trump a decade earlier.

The White House denies that claim. 

“60 Minutes” is poised to air an interview with Daniels on Sunday. 

“I am highly confident that when [the American people] have an opportunity to hear from my client, when they have an opportunity to observe her body language and hear what she has to say that they will conclude that she is absolutely credible, and they will conclude that she has a significant amount of veracity and is to be believed,” Avenatti told MSNBC on Saturday.
