Conway pushes back at reports she’s big White House leaker

Kellyanne Conway pushed back on claims in a new book that she is the biggest White House leaker, telling Fox News that the accusation was only made in an effort to generate “clicks and kicks.”

Conway, a senior White House adviser, told Fox News on Monday that she had spoken to President Trump about the book briefly on Sunday night.

{mosads}“He knows, and he has said publicly and privately who the leakers and the liars are and have been, and is very happy that there is a lot less leaking in the White House now,” she told Fox News’s Abby Huntsman, whose father is U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman.

“Do some still exist in the White House?” Huntsman asked.

“Perhaps. But let me just make very clear something that you know, because you are there and have two eyes. If somebody puts ‘Kellyanne interview’ on a chyron [on-screen graphic] in a headline, you get clicks and kicks,” Conway said.

“Leakers get great press,” Conway added later. “And one day, Abby, I will have my say.”

Author Ronald Kessler writes in his new book, “The Trump White House: Changing the Rules of the Game,” that Conway said some of the most “mean, cutting and honestly untrue” things about former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus.

He followed up in a CNN interview on Sunday.

“So if you wonder why there are so many leaks out of the White House, one reason is Kellyanne Conway is the No. 1 leaker,” Kessler told CNN’s Jake Tapper during “State of the Union.”

His book also charges that Conway “dissed” Trump’s daughter and senior adviser Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, another White House adviser.

Conway told Huntsman that she has a positive relationship with Ivanka Trump and Kushner and recently dined at the couple’s house.

Kessler’s book is particularly critical of Trump and Kushner, arguing they pushed for the firing of former FBI Director James Comey and the hiring of Anthony Scaramucci as White House communications director.

Scaramucci lasted just 11 days on the job.

Kessler’s book will be released Tuesday.
