David Muir is most-liked TV media personality: report

ABC “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir ranks as the most-liked TV media personality in the country, according to a study released Wednesday, with Fox News anchor Chris Wallace and ABC “Good Morning America” co-anchor Lara Spencer rounding out the top three.

The study comes from TheWrap.com, which looks at “Q scores.”  Q scores measure both likability and familiarity with the general public.

Muir, 44, was named anchor of “World News Tonight” in 2014, replacing Diane Sawyer. His Q score of 25 put him at the top of the list.

Wallace, who has been in journalism for more than 50 years, tied for second with Spencer, who in addition to co-anchoring the ABC morning show also is the HGTV host of “Flea Market Flip.” Also tied for second was CBS’s Jeff Glor, who was recently named anchor of “CBS Evening News” in October. All three have a 21 positive Q score

Of the four, Wallace has the higher familiarity score in the study, delivering a 31 in the category, topping Muir’s 25.

CBS’s John Dickerson registered a 20 positive Q score, placing fifth. Dickerson was named Charlie Rose’s replacement on “CBS This Morning” in January after Rose was ousted from the network amid sexual harassment allegations.

Dickerson is the former moderator of the CBS Sunday affairs program “Face the Nation.” Margaret Brennan replaced Dickerson in February.

The high marks comes as overall favorability numbers in the media continues to decrease.

A study by The Knight Foundation earlier this year showed that 84 percent of those surveyed believe the media play a “critical” or “very important” role in our democracy, while just 43 percent say they had a very or somewhat unfavorable view of the press.
