‘Fox & Friends’ hosts blast Michelle Wolf: ‘The whole thing was really X-rated’

The hosts of “Fox & Friends” tore into comedian Michelle Wolf on Monday over her controversial monologue at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, calling it “X-rated” and “way to the left.”

Wolf faced backlash for her routine at the Saturday dinner, with many claiming that Wolf’s jokes amounted to mockery of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s appearance.

The Fox hosts called Wolf’s jokes “attack dog-style” humor and praised Sanders for how she handled it.

{mosads}“Sarah Huckabee Sanders looked beautiful. She was sitting 5 feet from her right there on the stage. You know, and she handled herself gracefully. Look how pretty she looks. She looks amazing,” co-host Ainsley Earhardt said.

Co-host Steve Doocy said Sanders “rose above it” and did not give Wolf “the satisfaction of any sort of reaction.”

Wolf, an alum of “The Daily Show,” faced backlash for a joke that referenced Sanders’s signature eye makeup style.

“I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful,” Wolf said at the dinner. “She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies.”

“I’m never really sure what to call Sarah Huckabee Sanders,” Wolf continued. “Is it Sarah Sanders? Is it Sarah Huckabee Sanders? Is it Cousin Huckabee? Is it Auntie Huckabee Sanders? Like, what’s Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women?”

Fox’s Brian Kilmeade, who was at the dinner, said other guests seemed to have the feeling that “something terrible had just happened.”

Top conservatives and journalists criticized Wolf after the dinner for the joke. President Trump took to Twitter to attack her, calling the performance a “very big, boring bust” and saying the correspondents’ dinner “is DEAD as we know it.”

While Washington, Michigan, was a big success, Washington, D.C., just didn’t work. Everyone is talking about the fact that the White House Correspondents Dinner was a very big, boring bust…the so-called comedian really “bombed.” @greggutfeld should host next year! @PeteHegseth

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner was a failure last year, but this year was an embarrassment to everyone associated with it. The filthy “comedian” totally bombed (couldn’t even deliver her lines-much like the Seth Meyers weak performance). Put Dinner to rest, or start over!

The White House Correspondents’ Association also took to Twitter on Sunday night to express dissatisfaction with the comedian’s remarks.

“Last night’s program was meant to offer a unifying message about our common commitment to a vigorous and free press while honoring civility, great reporting and scholarship winners, not to divide people,” association President Margaret Talev said in a statement. “Unfortunately the entertainer’s monologue was not in the spirit of that mission.”

Talev also encourage members of the association to share their “views on the format of the dinner going forward.”
