Drudge Report chief Matt Drudge tweeted a warning on Monday that comedian Sacha Baron Cohen “is at it again,” a day after the “Borat” star released a teaser trailer featuring former Vice President Dick Cheney signing a “waterboard kit.”
“Sacha Baron Cohen at it again!” said Drudge, who always deletes his tweets shortly after they’re published. “This time for CBS/SHOWTIME. Lots of tricks played. Both Republicans and Democrats are getting caught up in the madness. Sacha has finked Cheney, Palin, Howard Dean, Alberto Gonzales, Bernie, Trent Lott, Patraeus, Ted Koppel, and more… BEWARE!”
{mosads}The premise of that project remains murky, but speculation has swirled in recent days that Cohen has been working on a series of prank celebrity interviews.
The video released by Cohen on Sunday evening is brief and largely incoherent. An introduction reads: “Imagine if Sacha Baron Cohen had been undercover secretly filming a new show for a year.”
The video then flashes a series of images: a person in a ghillie suit, a bare-naked bottom and a man tugging on a mustache, among other things. After that, the video cuts to a man talking offscreen.
“Dick Cheney, is it possible to sign my waterboard kit?” the voice asks.
“Sure,” the former vice president replies, before scrawling his autograph across a plastic jug. “That’s a first. That’s the first time I ever signed a waterboard.”
Cohen also hinted last week that the project could target President Trump and the now-defunct Trump University. He released a video on July 4 featuring a video of Trump railing against him, and then the words, “Sacha graduates soon.” The video then ends with a Trump University logo.
