Ben Shapiro: Feinstein’s ‘a total joke’

Conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro tore into Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) Tuesday for complaining that the GOP is rushing a hearing on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in the wake of a new sexual assault allegation against him.

Feinstein, who was first informed of the allegations against Kavanaugh in July and spoke about them publicly one week before his scheduled confirmation hearing, said in her statement that the GOP should not rush any investigation into the allegations.

{mosads}Shapiro also went after Feinstein on The Ben Shapiro Show Monday, asking why she did not bring Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations against Kavanaugh forward during the confirmation hearings.

“Maybe this is all true, maybe it is, but the way Feinstein handles this, makes it look like a smear,” he said. “Feinstein’s behavior is the most questionable of anyone in this entire situation.”

Ford has accused Kavanaugh of pinning her to a bed and attempting to force himself on her at a party in the early 1980s when they were both in high school.

A hearing is set for next Monday, delaying the vote on Kavanaugh’s confirmation which was originally scheduled for this Thursday.

However Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has said that Ford has not yet confirmed that she will attend the hearing Monday.

Ford’s lawyer said earlier Monday that she was generally willing to testify before the Senate Judiciary committee, but Grassley reported that she had not yet confirmed she would speak.

“Do they want to have the hearing or not? We’re delaying the vote strictly to get all the facts out on the table,” Grassley said. “What would be the purpose of the hearing if Dr. Ford doesn’t want to respond?”
