Ronan Farrow named to Top 100 Most Powerful list
Ronan Farrow has been named to the Hollywood Reporter’s Top 100 Most Powerful list, while former CBS chairman Les Moonves was taken off it, according to a release from the entertainment media company on Thursday.
Farrow, who won a Pulitzer Prize earlier this year for his reporting on former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein, also broke the news about the latest sexual harassment allegations against Moonves earlier this month that led to his ouster at CBS.
Hollywood Reporter editorial director Matthew Belloni told CNN he and his editors decided to remove Moonves from the list and replace him with Farrow.
{mosads}“That one was easy for us,” Belloni said to CNN. “He’s out of the business. He’s no longer in his role and this list is all about power and the ability to green light things and influence the culture and he’s no longer in that role.”
“I said, ‘What about Ronan?’” Belloni added. “And everybody just looked and said it makes sense, replacing one guy with the guy who caused him to be replaced.”
Disney CEO Bob Iger was on top of the list, with Reed Hastings and Ted Sarandos of Netflix, Brian Roberts and Steve Burke of Comcast and NBC Universal, John Stankey of WarnerMedia, and Shari Redstone of National Amusements rounding out the Top-5.
Those removed from the list due to sexual harassment or misconduct allegations include Pixar CEO John Lasseter, Amazon entertainment head Roy Price, and director Brett Ratner.
“The list reflects the profound change that Hollywood has undergone over the past year,” Belloni told CNN. “There were people who were on the list last year and are not this year specifically due to the Me Too movement.”
