CNN’s Santorum apologizes for saying ‘bulls–t’ on air in heated Kavanaugh segment

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) on Thursday apologized after saying “bullsh–t” on the air on CNN during a heated debate on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

In response to a question about Kavanaugh possibly having a memory lapse due to alcohol regarding sexual assault allegations against him by Christine Blasey Ford, Santorum said he doesn’t “buy that” and called the idea “bulls–t.”

“I just don’t buy that,” Santorum retorted impatiently to CNN “New Day” co-anchor Alisyn Camerota. “Sorry. Bullsh–t. I’m just saying, it’s just ridiculous.”

{mosads}In a tweet not long after the segment aired, Santorum apologized for using profanity, but stood by the substance of his argument.

“I apologize to the anchors on @CNN @NewDay and the viewers for using profanity during the show. No excuses,” he said.  “Stand by substance of what I said, but not how I said it.”

Santorum’s comments come as Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said Thursday morning there’s no corroboration of sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh per a supplementary FBI report submitted to the Senate after a six-day investigation.

Santorum joined CNN as a contributor in Jan. 2017 shortly before President Trump took office.
