Ben Shapiro condemns Republicans confronting Nancy Pelosi: ‘Stupid, nasty, and counterproductive’

Greg Nash

Conservative writer Ben Shapiro condemned a group of conservative protesters who yelled profanities and called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) a communist at an event in Florida.

“Stupid, nasty, and counterproductive,” Shapiro tweeted, along with a video of the people charging Pelosi.

Other Republicans also criticized the protesters, with many describing them as a “mob.”

{mosads}The rhetoric comes as Republicans have hit Democrats over their opposition to President Trump and their actions during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation battle.

Republicans have likened liberal protesters on Capitol Hill to a mob and have argued voters should not give power to Democrats given the actions of the protesters.

They’ve also criticized Democratic figures such as 2016 presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and former Attorney General Eric Holder for statements the GOP says can lead to demonstrators and protesters getting out of control.

The protests of Pelosi threatened to undercut the GOP argument by showcasing how extremists on the right can engage in mob-like behavior.
