’60 Minutes’ to feature tributes to George H.W. Bush from three other former presidents

CBS’s “60 Minutes” announced it will feature former Presidents George W. Bush, Clinton and Obama on Sunday night in a tribute to George H.W. Bush, who died at the age of 94 late Friday.

“The three former U.S. leaders share their personal experiences and informed opinions of their colleague in separate interviews,” reads the announcement from CBS News. “60 Minutes” correspondent and “CBS This Morning” anchor Norah O’Donnell will interview the former presidents.

Included in the report will be interviews with George H.W. Bush’s former secretary of state and close friend, James Baker, and historian Jon Meacham.

Congressional leaders announced Saturday that Bush will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda early this week. A bicameral arrival ceremony will be held Monday evening, with the public given the opportunity to pay their respects through Wednesday morning.

Gerald Ford was the last president to lie in state following his death in December 2006.

Despite bitter quarrels with the Bush family and particularly Jeb Bush, the former president’s son, during the 2016 presidential campaign, President Trump and first lady Melania Trump will attend George H.W. Bush’s funeral services at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Trump on Saturday declared a national day of mourning for Wednesday to honor the former president and ordered U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff for 30 days. The president also issued an executive order closing all federal agencies and departments on Wednesday.
