New York magazine deletes story calling Priyanka Chopra a ‘scam artist’

New York magazine’s The Cut deleted a post Wednesday that accused Priyanka Chopra of being a “global scam artist” after extreme backlash.

“Upon further editorial review, we found this story did not meet our standards,” the magazine posted in place of the article. “We’ve removed it and apologize.”

{mosads}The article — “Is Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas’s Love for Real?” — insinuated that the Indian actress had ensnared Jonas to build her Hollywood career, according to Scroll.in.

Pranav Dixit, a BuzzFeed News tech reporter based in Delhi, highlighted a quote from the piece that drew significant criticism: “All Nick wanted was a possible fling with Hollywood’s latest It Woman, but instead he wound up staring straight at a life sentence with a global scam artist.”

Nick Jonas’s brother Joe Jonas and his significant other, “Game of Thrones” star Sophie Turner, were some of the high-profile critics of The Cut’s piece.

“This is disgusting,” Joe Jonas tweeted on Wednesday. “@TheCut should be ashamed to have someone write such evil words. What Nick & Pri have is Beautiful Love.”

“This is wildly inappropriate and totally disgusting,” Turner added. “Very disappointed that The Cut would give anyone a platform to spew such bullshit.”
