Limbaugh fumes on border wall: ‘Trump gets nothing and the Democrats get everything’
Rush Limbaugh is fuming over the White House’s decision to drop its demand that $5 billion for President Trump’s border wall be included in a government funding bill.
The radio host said the stopgap measure being passed means “Trump gets nothing and the Democrats get everything, including control of the House in a few short weeks.”
{mosads}The deal has come under widespread criticism from conservative pundits, some of whom slammed the president for caving to Democrats on what was arguably his signature campaign promise.
“This is textbook. It’s a textbook example of what the drive-by media calls compromise,” said Limbaugh on his nationally syndicated radio show.
Limbaugh also noted that the White House compromise with Democrats also strips out $1.6 billion for the wall along the U.S. southern border that was already approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee earlier this year.
“That’s gone, too. Not only is there not gonna be $5 billion, there isn’t gonna be $1.6 billion that was already allocated,” he said. “So it’s an even better compromise in the minds of the drive-by media and the denizens of the swamp. Not a penny. Forget wall. Think border security.”
The stopgap measure running through Feb. 8 continues existing funding. The 2018 appropriations bill included $1.3 billion for border fencing.
Outspoken conservatives Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin and Ben Shapiro also ripped the White House for pushing off the wall debate until February when the stopgap government spending measures expires.
Coulter said she would not vote for Trump in 2020 if the wall isn’t built, while Malkin accused the president of caving in an interview on “Fox & Friends,” which the president reportedly watches.
“I’m not going to spin it,” Malkin said. “I wish I could but I can’t. This is a cave. This was a blink.”
