Anderson Cooper mocks Trump over ‘Game of Thrones’-inspired poster

CNN host Anderson Cooper on Wednesday called out President Trump for appearing in a Cabinet meeting with a poster inspired by the HBO show “Game of Thrones.”

“I just want to focus on something that was on the table,” Cooper said on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360.” “Literally on the table in front of him. A printed poster size ‘Game of Thrones’ ripoff.”

{mosads}”The question is, what was it doing there?” he continued, before joking about why Trump may have a poster-sized version of the image.

The poster featured a photo of Trump behind the phrase “Sanctions Are Coming.” Trump first tweeted the image in November to promote the reimposition of sanctions on Iran.

Reuters White House correspondent Jeff Mason on Wednesday posted a photo on Twitter of the printed version on the table of a Cabinet meeting.

“If you’re going to come up with a fake movie poster you should at least come up with a fake movie title,” Cooper said. “‘Sanctions are coming.’ That’s not even a play on the title. It’s a ripoff of the catchphrase.”

Cooper, a frequent critic of the president, went on to say that Trump “may just get a really big kick out of seeing his picture on a poster.”

“And he wanted everyone else to see it without ever explaining why it was there. He just liked it maybe,” he said, before adding that we may never know why the poster appeared at the meeting.

Trump did not address the poster during the segment of the meeting that was open to the media.
