Fox News signs former DNC chair Donna Brazile as a contributor
Fox News announced on Monday that it has signed former interim Democratic National Committee chairwoman and former CNN political analyst Donna Brazile as a contributor.
“Brazile, a veteran Democratic strategist, will offer political analysis across both [Fox News] and FOX Business Network’s daytime and primetime programming,” Fox said in a statement.
{mosads}Fox added that Brazile would make her first appearance on “The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino” at 2 p.m. EDT on Monday.
“I’m delighted to be joining FOX News,” Brazile said in a statement included in the announcement.
She also sought to address potential criticism from progressives about joining Fox News.
“I know I’m going to get criticized from my friends in the progressive movement for being on FOX News. My response is that, if we’ve learned anything from the 2016 election, it is that we can’t have a country where we don’t talk to those who disagree with our political views,” she said in her statement.
“There’s an audience on FOX News that doesn’t hear enough from Democrats,” she continued. “We have to engage that audience and show Americans of every stripe what we stand for rather than retreat into our ‘safe spaces’ where we simply agree with each other. For there is no safety in self-limiting numbers.”
“You can be darn sure that I’m still going to be me on FOX News,” Brazile assured. “I’m going to do what I always do: and dish it out straight, exactly as I see it, with just as much New Orleans hot sauce as folks expect.”
Brazile was the first African-American woman to manage a major presidential campaign when she served as campaign manager for Al Gore (D) in 2000.
CNN severed ties with Brazile in October 2016 after she shared town hall debate questions with then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
CNN said at the time it did not play any role in Brazile sharing questions with the Clinton campaign.
A source close to the situation at Fox News told The Hill that Brazile will not be involved with debates or town halls at the network.
