Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has agreed to appear in a Fox News town hall on April 15, the day by which Americans have to file taxes.
The network said the town hall will take place on April 15 in Bethlehem, Pa., and will be co-moderated by “Special Report” anchor Bret Baier and “The Story” anchor Martha MacCallum. It will focus on the economy and jobs.
{mosads}Sanders, a self-described democratic socialist, participated in a town hall event on Fox News during the 2016 presidential election cycle.
His decision to participate this year comes after the Democratic National Committee (DNC) said last month that it would not allow Fox News to host a presidential primary debate, citing a New Yorker story alleging deep ties between the conservative network and President Trump’s inner circle.
Sanders’s 2016 town hall on Fox News did well from a ratings perspective, averaging 2.6 million total viewers and nearly 500,000 in the key 25-54 demographic.
Fox News will also host a town hall with potential 2020 presidential candidate Howard Schultz, the former CEO of Starbucks, who is considering running as an Independent.
Fox rival CNN has hosted town halls with 2020 Democratic candidates on a regular basis since the beginning of the year.
Many Democratic candidates have done interviews on Fox News since declaring their respective candidacies, including Sens. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.).
