McCain scolds Behar on ‘The View’: ‘Part of your job is to listen to me’

Meghan McCain and Joy Behar continued their war of words on “The View” on Monday during a discussion on immigration that got so heated at one point that McCain told Behar part of her job “is to listen to me” as the two were arguing over aid to Central American countries.

“This is a hard-line issue for people who live in border states,” McCain said regarding the immigration debate. “[For] many friends of mine, this is the number one and only issue.”

{mosads}”Keep them there happy,” Behar said. “Give them a house, give them food, help them, help their children — ”

“Give a Nicaraguan a house?” McCain injected. “Well, we’ve had a bunch of liberal guests who do not want to send in aid at all — ”

“Hold on, I’ve listened to you, just let me finish,” Behar shot back.

“Yeah, well, part of your job is to listen to me … I’m just saying,” McCain replied.

Fellow co-host Whoopi Goldberg jumped in to cool down the conversation.

“Here’s the deal, here’s what’s not going to happen today: We’re not going to do this. Everybody gets a conversation piece, everybody gets to say their piece and we don’t need to comment if we don’t like what we’re hearing. Just let folks talk.”

“So finish what you’re saying,” Goldberg instructed Behar.

“I forgot what it was now,” Behar responded.

McCain and Behar have had some intense moments in recent months, including most notably in December during what was supposed to be a somber segment to discuss former President George H.W. Bush, who had just passed away.

Behar attempted on that Dec. 3 episode of “The View” to criticize President Trump by comparing him to Bush, to which McCain objected.

“Can we focus on the president, please? I don’t want to talk about Trump,” McCain said to Behar.

“Well, I do for a second, so excuse me!” Behar shouted.

“We’re honoring a great president who passed—” McCain argued.

“Excuse me a second, please. I want to talk about the difference—” Behar returned.

“But we’re honoring — but I’m not interested in your one issue,” McCain replied.

“I don’t care what you’re interested in, because I’m talking!” Behar said.

“I don’t care what you’re interested in either!” McCain said in response, before Goldberg went to commercial break.

Behar celebrated her 20-year anniversary on the program last year, while McCain came to ABC in October 2017 after several years on Fox News. Goldberg recently returned to the program after recovering from pneumonia.
