Time magazine’s list of the most influential people contains the most women since its inception in 2004.
Time editor-in-chief and CEO Edward Felsenthal said on “CBS This Morning” that the 48 women featured is a record for the magazine’s annual list.
“We have 48 women on the list this year, up from 45 last year,” Felsenthal said. “When we first started doing this in 2004, I just went back and counted, there were 24.”{mosads}
He added that the list is “in some ways a reflection of our society, but amazing year for the women on the list.”
Included on the list was CBS’s own Gayle King, who was sitting across from Felsenthal hosting the network’s flagship morning program as he unveiled the list.
“It’s not even noon and I am having a great day,” King said. “I am so appreciative and so humbled by this I can’t even begin to tell you.”
The magazine has multiple different covers featuring women who made the list, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wrote the profile for Pelosi.
Michelle Obama also made the list; the former first lady’s profile was written by Beyoncé.
