ABC’s Robin Roberts and CBS’s Gayle King are the most trusted morning show hosts with the American public, according to a Morning Consult/Hollywood Reporter poll released Tuesday.

Roberts, who has anchored “Good Morning America” on ABC after launching her national profile on ESPN in 1990, was trusted “a lot” by 41 percent of respondents in the poll. ESPN and ABC are both owned by Disney.

King, who co-anchors “CBS This Morning,” was the second-most trusted morning show anchor, with 38 percent of people in the poll trusting her, followed by NBC “Today Show” co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie at 36 percent each.{mosads}

The survey also found that ABC’s “Good Morning America” is the most popular morning show on the major broadcast networks, with 49 percent of adults having a favorable opinion of the show that originally launched in 1975.

The program is the most-watched morning show on television, delivering an average of more than 5 million viewers on weekday mornings. NBC averaged more than 3.5 million viewers to take second place, and CBS third, with a 3.4 million viewer average.

Roberts’s “GMA” counterpart, former NFL star Michael Strahan, was voted the most popular morning show anchor, capturing the support of 39 percent of those surveyed in the category.

Over the past five years, there have been some big moves in the morning news scene as longtime anchors such as Charlie Rose and Matt Lauer were ousted amid sexual misconduct allegations. But new polling shows that despite the changes to the morning anchor lineup at CBS and NBC, ABC’s “Good Morning America” is the favorite among the public.

The Morning Consult/The Hollywood Reporter survey of 2,201 U.S. adults was conducted April 17-21 with an overall margin of error of 2 percentage points.
