Wallace fires back at Fox ‘opinion people’ over Mueller letter

Fox News host Chris Wallace hit back at some of his colleagues on Wednesday for their coverage of a letter sent by special counsel Robert Mueller to Attorney General William Barr expressing his “frustration” with Barr’s handling of the report.

“I know there’s some people who don’t think that this March 27 letter is a big deal,” Wallace said, referring to the letter Mueller wrote to Barr, before clarifying that there are “some opinion people, some opinion people who appear on this network, who may be pushing a political agenda.”

“We have to deal in facts,” he added.

He also said that there are many people who believe that Barr’s letter to Congress did not accurately convey the report’s findings.

“There are a lot of people having read now the full report or as much as has been not redacted agree that he didn’t reveal what was fully in the report,” Wallace said. “Again, those aren’t opinions. That’s not a political agenda. Those are the facts.”

Wallace’s comments come after Fox host Laura Ingraham jabbed him on Wednesday over his coverage of the letter, saying that he agreed with “these other cable networks.”

“I know Chris Wallace, at the top of your hour, was indicating, I guess, that he kind of agrees with these other cable networks that this was an attempt by the [Department of Justice] DOJ to spin what the conversation was between Barr and Mueller,” she said.

Ingraham added that she doesn’t “know if Chris Wallace has information that I don’t have, but that he is saying that Barr is perpetuating a lie about this conversation between him and Mueller?”

The Hill has reached out to Fox News for comment.

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday released the March 27 letter from Mueller, in which the special counsel said Barr’s summary memo took many of the findings out of context and created “public confusion about critical aspects of the results.”

Barr, in the memo released on March 24, wrote that Mueller’s team did not find sufficient evidence of coordination between Russia and the Trump campaign or enough evidence to pursue an obstruction of  justice charge against President Trump.
