CBS News is forcefully denying a New York Post report that “CBS This Morning” co-host Gayle King demanded management remove her co-anchor Norah O’Donnell.
“This headline is offensive and 100 percent false,” CBS News President Susan Zirinsky said in a Thursday statement, referring to the Post story titled “Gayle King pushes out Norah O’Donnell at ‘CBS This Morning.’”
{mosads}A CBS source told the Post that the King-O’Donnell relationship is unsalvageable, saying “Norah is toxic.”
The Hollywood Reporter said Thursday that O’Donnell will be the next anchor of “CBS Evening News,” replacing Jeff Glor.
It was also reported that “CBS This Morning” co-host John Dickerson will soon depart the show to join “60 Minutes,” leaving King as chief anchor while being joined by Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil from the network’s news division.
Mason currently anchors the Saturday edition of “CBS This Morning,” while Dokoupil has served as a CBS correspondent since 2016.
King, who signed a contract extension in March, has landed several high-profile exclusive interviews in recent months, most notably with pop star R. Kelly and embattled Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D).
