Hannity mocks NBC for making Maddow a debate moderator

Fox News’s Sean Hannity mocked MSNBC on Tuesday for selecting Rachel Maddow as one of the moderators for the first Democratic presidential primary debates.

The conservative commentator questioned how the “real reporters feel, if there are any left, being passed over for the job” for Maddow.

He then proposed having right-wing and conservative commentators moderate the debate instead.

“Here’s what we’re going to do. We’ll have a debate moderated by me, the great one [Mark Levin], Rush Limbaugh, Jesse [Watters] can join us, and Laura [Ingraham] and Tucker [Carlson]. How’s that?” Hannity said. 

Hannity accused Maddow of being the “chief conspiracy theorist” for MSNBC and dubbed her “Roswell Maddow.”

“Did we tell you this would happen? That the media would refuse to hold any of their fake news fanatics accountable?” Hannity said during his show. “Tin-foil hat Maddow, the single biggest liar, conspiracy theorist in the country. The one person that pushed the Russiagate lies night after night after night after night for over two years.”

The Hill has reached out to Maddow for comment on Hannity’s remarks.

“The Rachel Maddow Show” host was one of five moderators announced on Tuesday ahead of the first Democratic presidential primary debates on June 26 and 27 in Miami. 

Lestor Holt of “NBC Nightly News” will appear for both nights.

Savannah Guthrie of “Today” and José Diaz-Balart of “Noticias Telemundo” and “NBC Nightly News Saturday” will be alongside him for the first hour of each night. 

Maddow and Chuck Todd of “Meet the Press” will join him in the second hour.
