Scarborough during Mueller hearing: ‘Jesus, forgive me for ever being a Republican’

Former GOP lawmaker and current “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough tweeted during former special counsel Robert Mueller’s Wednesday testimony and asked to be forgiven for his previous party affiliation.

“Jesus, forgive me for ever being a Republican,” the former four-term Florida congressman said.

The MSNBC host announced in 2017 that he was leaving the Republican Party and becoming an independent over GOP support for President Trump.{mosads}

Scarborough’s tweet came after Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee grilled Mueller on the findings of his investigation into Russia’s election interference and potential obstruction of justice.

Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas), a former prosecutor, alleged that Mueller violated Justice Department principles by writing that his probe did not exonerate the president on obstruction allegations.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), who earlier this month described Mueller as an “anal opening,” pressed Mueller for details about his relationship with former FBI Director James Comey and his handling of the behavior of former FBI agent Peter Strzok.
