Trump Media begins streaming platform Truth+ rollout
Former President Trump’s media company announced Friday that it had begun the rollout of its streaming platform, Truth+.
“After rigorous stress testing, the initial streaming service is expected to become available to all Truth Social users on the Web, followed shortly by a rollout on Android and iOS,” the company said in an announcement.
The streaming platform will be available through Trump’s Truth Social social media platform. Users will be able to click on the Truth+ icon and access streaming content while they scroll through the Truth Social app, the company said.
“The initial slate of streaming options is expected to include channels comprising news, commentary, weather, and lifestyle and entertainment,” the company said, noting that it had plans to expand to Christian and family-friendly content.
Trump Media and Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes said they created Truth Social to be a “safe harbor” of free speech online.
“Now, we’re establishing a reliable home for great TV content that is neglected by the big corporations or is at risk of cancellation, and we are securing our own tech stack and hardware infrastructure to make our new [content delivery network] uncancellable.”
Nunes said he looks forward to launching enhancements for the streaming platform, including new content.
Users will be able to catch up on TV that has been broadcast to any show in the past seven days, and watch network DVR and video on demand. The company said it has plans to allow users to watch streaming content on TVs in their homes.
Trump launched his social media app Truth Social in 2021 to stand up to “the tyranny of Big Tech.”
