The media gets lower marks on its performance than President Trump regarding its handling of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new poll from Monmouth University.

The poll released Monday afternoon shows 50 percent of Americans approving of President Trump’s handling of the crisis, while 45 percent say the media has done a good job in reporting on it. Ten percent said the results were mixed on both fronts.

Congress also received more negative than positive reviews, with just 42 percent of participants in the Monmouth poll saying it has done a good job.

The American public itself was also included in the poll and performed worse than any group surveyed. Overall, just 38 percent said the U.S. public has done a good job in handling the crisis.

Governors across the country performed better than any group, with 72 percent saying their state’s governor has performed well.

Federal health agencies also scored relatively high marks with 65 percent approval.

More than 43,499 Americans have tested positive for coronavirus, with the U.S. death toll at 537, according to numbers reported by The New York Times on Tuesday morning.
